Summer Academy

Thank you for being so interested in the 100 Black Men of Indianapolis, INC Summer Academy. Our Summer Academy is one of several programs executed by the men of the 100 Black Men of Indianapolis, INC, to enrich male and female students from primary and secondary grades within the Indianapolis community. The men of The 100 are committed to providing the students we touch with positive role modeling, guidance, and mentorship on their road to becoming productive members of communities. For over the last 30-plus years, the 100 Black Men of Indianapolis, INC has cultivated and delivered a quality summer academy for primary grades for boys and girls to lessen the summer learning slide for many students within the Indianapolis community and beyond. Our core academic areas continue to be teacher-led Language Arts and Math, with STEM being an emerging core area of interest.  

Purpose of Summer Academy: To engage and challenge primary male and female students in a safe and stimulating academic and socially enriching environment for 6-weeks to decrease the summer learning slide. 

Mission of Summer Academy: During a 6-week, standards-based program, males and females are instructed by qualified teachers in core curriculum areas – language arts (reading, writing, and vocabulary) and math. Our core curriculum is coupled with life science, social, and culture arts activities to give our students a comprehensive learning experience in a nurturing environment. 

Focus Areas of Summer Academy: Math and Language Arts (reading, writing, and vocabulary). Life Science (STEM), Social and Culture Art Activities (Field Trips, Social Health Network, and teacher-led arts programs).
